Aviva Stadium - UCFL Premium seat tickets

In September 2009, the UCFL took a decision to purchase a number of 10 year premium seat tickets for the new Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road.  In addition to granting access to Republic of Ireland home internationals which will all be played at the new stadium, these tickets also grant the UCFL the right to purchase tickets for certain other events which will be held at the stadium over the course of the 10 years.

The Leinster FA also purchased 10 year premium seat tickets and the UCFL, as an affiliate, acquired a number of extra tickets via this source.  The notices below set out how and where all of these tickets have been allocated.  The allocation method was announced initially at the July 2010 management meeting.

07/10/2010: Premium tickets for Ireland v Norway

At Thursday (07/10/2010) night’s monthly management meeting, the League’s premium seat tickets were allocated for the Norway friendly.  Clubs which have won the right to purchase a pair of these tickets are: Glasnaoin, Adamstown, Conwell Rovers and Stedfast Utd.

02/09/2010: Premium tickets for Ireland v Russia allocated

With the Republic of Ireland v Russia Euro2012 qualifier due to be played at Aviva Stadium on Friday, October 8, it was clearly not appropriate to delay the draw for the right to purchase the UCFL’s premium seat tickets for this match until the next management meeting, which is on October 7.  It was therefore decided to hold this draw also on Thursday night.  Those who have won the right to purchase a pair of tickets for the game are as follows: Balally Celtic, Castle Celtic, Paraic Treanor (committee) and Bryan Flewett (committee).  The winners will be granted 7 days to decide whether or not to take up this opportunity; a further draw will be held next Thursday night if any are not taken up.

In addition, a draw was held for the right to purchase tickets for the Michael Buble concerts.  Winners in this draw will not be excluded from future draws relating to Republic of Ireland international football matches.

26/08/2010: Michael Buble tickets

As holders of 10 year premium seat tickets, the UCFL exercised its right to purchase tickets for the Michael Buble concerts on Sept 24 and 25.  Clubs were notified at the 26/08/2010 management meeting that they should contact the Hon Sec before 02/09/2010 if they wished to apply for the opportunity to purchase these tickets.  A draw will be held if the number of applicants exceed the tickets available.

22/07/2010: Opening Aviva Stadium ticket draws held

At the management meeting on 22/07/2010, a draw covering all the clubs and committee members was held for the right to purchase premium tickets held by the League and also those acquired via the Leinster FA, for the upcoming matches against Argentina and Andorra.  The four clubs winning the right to purchase a pair of tickets for the Argentina game were Kingswood, Sandyford Rovers, Trinity Corinthians and Clontarf Athletic.  For the Andorra game, the purchasers will be St. Mary’s, Schalke Rovers, Seaview Celtic and Glenmalure Rovers.  Together with committee member P. Morgan, who declined the option to purchase a pair, these clubs will be excluded from future draws until all other clubs have been afforded the right to purchase the tickets.

15/07/2010: Aviva Stadium; allocation method for UCFL/LFA premium tickets announced

As previously advised, the UCFL has acquired a number of premium tickets for the Republic of Ireland’s matches at the new Aviva Stadium.

With the opening international, a friendly fixture against Argentina on August 11, now less than a month away, the League has decided on a method to distribute these tickets for the opening games.  For the Argentina match, all member clubs and UCFL Executive Committee members will be entitled to enter a draw for the right to purchase a pair of these tickets at face value.  For the second match, a similar process will be followed, except that the winners in the opening draw will be excluded.  The excluded “winners” will include any party who declined the opportunity to purchase.  For the third match, the winners in the opening two matches will be excluded, and so on.

The draws for the first two matches, against Argentina and the Euro 2012 qualifier against Andorra, will be held at the July management (formation) meeting on Thursday of next week (22/07/2010).

16/06/2010: Aviva Stadium presentation; Tours of new stadium available to UCFL members

Following the recent completion and formal opening of the new Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road, the UCFL were pleased to welcome a delegation from the FAI to our AGM at the beginning of June to make a presentation on the new stadium.  The delegation outlined the details of the building, a 50,000 all-seater state of the art stadium which will host the Republic of Ireland soccer team’s home games from next August onwards.

The delegation also invited any member of the League to visit the stadium for a tour of the impressive facilities.  Anyone interested in availing of this option should contact Tony Johnson on 087- 0660256 or by email at tony.johnson(at)fai.ie

With the opening soccer matches in August now fast approaching, an Airtricity League XI v Manchester Utd. on August 4 followed by the opening international Republic of Ireland v Argentina on August 11, the UCFL hopes to announce details in the near future of an opportunity for some members of the League to obtain premium seat tickets for these and subsequent matches over the coming season.
