02/03/2010 news: Adamstown exit LFA Junior Shield

While the majority of matches fixed for last Saturday (27/02/2010) were called off, 13 still went ahead as scheduled.

Unfortunately, the UCFL’s last representative in the LFA Junior Shield, Adamstown, were knocked out of the competition on penalties by Lakelands FC after a 1-1 draw.

The Richard Knight Cup got under way with a single first round match in which Brayzil beat St. Canice’s.

Elsewhere, it was all league action.  There were 3 games played in the Premier Division, with Sportslink’s win over leaders Trinity Corinthians the most notable result; champions VEC continued to progress with a 3-1 win away over Glasnaoin while Clontarf beat Lower Crumlin.

In Division 1, second placed FC Ailesbury lost further ground to Stedfast Utd., though they remain unbeaten after a 0-0 draw away to Sandyford Rovers.

Greystones Utd. 2nds in Division 2A and Stedfast Utd. 2nds in Division 2B both strengthened their positions at or near the top of their respective divisions.

As usual, please see the Irish Daily Star on Tuesday (02/03/2010) for full results, updated tables, reports and summaries from the weekend action.  Full reports feature Trinity Corinthians v Sportslink and Clontarf v Lower Crumlin.

There will be significant action next weekend in the Richard Knight Cup, the MMI Cup and the Sidney Bedlow Cup; 11 matches in all are scheduled in these competitions.
