09/11/2010: UCFL 2-2 Meath League

The UCFL League Team drew their opening Oscar Traynor Trophy match against the Meath League at Home Farm in Whitehall on Tuesday night (09/11/2010).

The game was full of incident from the start, with Meath hitting the post after just 3 minutes, before the UCFL took the lead on 8 minutes.  Ian Doyle (Ardmore Rovers) went down the right hand side of the box after a well worked move before pulling the ball back across the six yard box where a Meath defender turned it into his own net.

Meath came close to equalising after about 15 minutes but Sportslink full back Alan Fay intercepted to clear the danger at the expense of a corner.  Ian Doyle headed over at the other end after 30 minutes before goalkeeper Willie Wylie (Sportslink) saved well from a Meath forward a minute later.

On 36 minutes, the UCFL went 2-0 ahead when a 20 yard shot from Alan Fay went straight through the goalkeeper
