The following are some brief summaries from Saturday, which were also sent to the Star for publication onTuesday:

Siemens will have a home tie against Dollymount in Round 2 of the Nivea For Men Challenge Cup after seeing off a determined challenge from Finsbury Park on a 6 - 3 scoreline. The winning marksmen were Paolo Cotero (2), John Lanigan, Robert Kane, Darren Kane and Jason Flood with the replies coming from Frank Reid, Noel Healy and Paul Van Der Kerkoff.  Sean Hughes got the only goal of the game to send VEC 2nds into Round 2 at the expense of AFC Justice and they will now meet St Mary's 2nds.  Karl Moran, Jimmy McGrath and Pat O'Brien (2) ensured a 4 - 1 success for last year's runners-up, Stedfast Utd, over Glen Oaks in Round 2 while, in a very tight game, Brayzil just edged past Terenure 2nds thanks to a header from Ashley McDonagh on 30 minutes.  FC Ailesbury were too experienced for FC Centurions and had a comfortable 4 - 0 victory to advance through the efforts of Shane Byrne, Anto Walsh and Colm Walsh (2). The holders VEC scrambled a 2 - 1 win over Sporting Metro courtesy of goals from Mick Keating and Phil McHugh.

In the Premier Division, Strand Utd garnered three points against Sportslink with goals from Ronan Munnelly and John Kennedy.

Dave Byrne, Aaron Brack (2) and Gareth Crowley found the net for Brayzil 2nds in their Div 1 away tie against Sandyford Rovers.

The other Sandyford - United - were deserving 5 - 2 winners over Glenmalure Rovers in Div 2.

The winning tally came from Ciaran Tracey (2), Lee Doyle, Rob O'Halloran and Philip Richardson.  Stephen O'Grady, Barry Murray and an "og" foiled St Mary's 2nds efforts to put back-to-back home wins as they lost out to Ardmore Rovers 2nds 1 - 3 in Div 2B.

Brookfield  Celtic 2nds dominated Dollymount in Div 3 and the highlight of the win was a hat-trick for Garrett Francis.

Scott Masterson, Dermot Smith and Leigh White were on the mark in Div 3A for Limekiln as they shared 6 goals with Riverside Utd while Eoghan Webb and Sean Fox bagged the goals to give VEC 3rds a 2 - 0 victory over KCR in the local derby.

Aaron Chambers is in to double figures for the season already as his five-timer for Ballymount Celtic earned another three points for the club against an overwhelmed Lazio 2nds in 3B.
