Challenge Cup - April 2009

Orchard Celtic left it late to see off Mount Merrion in the 3rd round of the LFA Junior Cup as Kevin Brennan scored the only goal of the game with 4 minutes remaining.

Shane Fitzpatrick, Brian Ruddy and Alan McLoughlin found the net for Dollymount in the 3 - 1 defeat of W FC in the third round of the Nivea for Men Challenge Cup. Their reward is a home tie against Sporting Metro in round 4.  Also in the Challenge Cup, Sean Dunne was Lucan Utd's saviour in a narrow 1 - 0 win over Schalke Rovers 2nds and next up for them is an all Lucan clash against Glen Oaks.

With a 3 - 0 interval lead, St Anne's were always comfortable against Claremont Rangers in their 2nd round MMI clash and eventually won 5 - 0.  The winning marksmen were Nicky Barber, Mark Ward, Brian Fitzgerald - with a spectacular shot from half way - Kevin Byrne (pen) and player/manager Philip Brennan.

Stedfast Utd 2nds also advanced with a 3 - 1 victory over AC Portobello thanks to goals from Garry Dardis, Robbie Giltrap and an "og".

In the Premier Division, Strand Utd recorded a welcome 2 - 0 win over Schalke Rovers to move a little further away from the drop zone.  Kenneth Moore opened the scoring in the first half with Trevor Bell adding a second late on.

Stuart Woods secured the three points for Trinity Corinthians in the 1-0 defeat of Glasnaoin.  Stedfast Utd will hold the top spot in Div 1 over the year end as they notched another win - this time at the expense of Balally Celtic. Pat O'Brien grabbed a brace with Nicholas Nolan adding the third.
