25/03/2011: Reports from 19/03/2011

The following summaries were sent to the Star for publication this week:

Allenton and Stedfast Utd 3rds had a great tussle in the 4th round of the Sidney Bedlow Cup and it needed a Mark Gahan header with 15 minutes to go to decide the tie in favour of Allenton on a 2 - 1 scoreline. Mick Horgan had earlier opened the scoring for Allenton.  Lucan Utd are also through to the semi-finals on a similar scoreline against Springbank . Emmet Walker and Colm Ryan scored for the winners with David Doyle replying for Springbank.

Karl Moran, Paddy Moran and Paul Campbell were the scorers for Stedfast U td in their 3 - 0 defeat of Clontarf Ath in the Premier.

VEC 2nds keep getting the results in Div 2 and garnered another three points at the expense of Sandford Athletic. Ron Doyle, Stephen Van Loon and Robbie McGrane provided the firepower in the 3 - 0 victory.

Carton Avenue took the wind out of Siemens early on in their Div 3 clash when constant pressure forced an "og" from the unfortunate James Hand after only 10 minutes. However, Siemens drew level just before the interval when good combination from Michael Casey and John Lanigan allowed Lanigan to score. Siemens had the wind advantage in the second half and Joe O'Boyle netted soon after the restart following good work by Paulo Cassiro. The win was sealed on 70 minutes, when Mark Rogersfired home.

In Div 3B, leaders W FC suffered a sharp reverse at the hands of White Star Rovers going down 4 - 0. Cian O'Reilly, Philip Coffey and Neil Walsh (2) were the White Star heroes. VEC 3rds profitted from another Sean Fox goal as his strike settled the game against CMH and the win moved his side closer to the top of the table.
