29/09/2011: Reports from 24/09/2011

The following brief summaries were sent to the Iirish Daily Star for publication on Tuesday (27/09/2011):

Despite only leading 1-0 at the break, Brayzil followed through with a decisive second half performance to finish up as 6-2 victors over Donore FC in the first round of the LFA Junior Cup. Ashley McDonagh got them on the road again with the remainder of the tally coming from Ray Jaudzems (2), Dave Duffin (2) and Mark Lawlor.

Also in the LFA Junior Cup, Steve Soye (2) and Kevin O'Flynn put Booterstown in to a comfortable 3-0 lead over Drumcondra FC though they conceded a scrappy goal just before the interval. Drumcondra pushed on in the second half and were rewarded with a deflected shot that found its way to the back of the net. With 20 minutes to go, Drumcondra tied the game which ebbed and flowed though normal and extra time without any more goals. In the resultant penalty shoot out, Booterstown advanced on a 3-1 scoreline.

Nathaniel Fernandes scored just before the interval to leave Harding 2nds trailing Ardmore Rovers 3rds 2-1 in their Div 3B clash. Ten minutes after the re-start, Adrian O'Flaherty equalised for Harding and they went searching for the winner. Ardmore hit back with two goals on the break and looked to have done enough to take all three points.  However, Fernandes had other ideas and pulled one back on 80 minutes.  With practically the last action of the game, he rounded off his hat-trick with a bullet header to ensure the spoils were shared.  Ardmore's marksmen were Graham Hinch, Pete Moran, Andrew Edwards and James Pitts.

Two goals from Dominic Ryle earned a valuable 2 - 1 win for Central over Castle Celtic 3rds in 3B where Paddy Thompson (2), Derek Deasy and Emlyn Cullen were on the mark for CMH in the 4 -1 defeat of Stedfast Utd 3rds.

Goals from Damien O'Toole (2), Wayne Carraig and Philip Chitou earned Rialto Madrid a 4 - 4 draw agaist W FC in Div 3A.

A Maurice Gill goal on 43 minutes put Three Trout Rovers ahead against Siemens in Div 3 though the lead was short-lived as, two minutes later, man-of-the-match Joe O'Boyle was taken down for a penalty which Nicholas Hudson converted. Siemens got the winning goal just three minutes after the resumption when Paulo Cassiro netted.  Dollymount had a 2 -1 lead over Dundrum Town after the contributions of Alan Kelly and Craig Henry before a second half equaliser from Barry Dwyer made sure the honours were shared. Mick Horgan got the initial Dundrum goal. Ciaran Murphy hit a brace for Grant City in a tight game against AFC Justice which finished up 3 - 2 to Grant. They needed a winner in the 80th minute from Rory Green. Leroy Turner, Mark Montgomery and Ross Church provided the firepower for Castle Celtic 2nds in the 3-0 defeat of Glasnaoin 2nds.

In Div 2, Sandford Athletic were two down after 48 minutes against Sandyford Utd - Chris Davies and Ricky Jay were the marksmen - and they had to use their experience to eventually salvage a point when Julian Fraser and Liam Slattery brought them level.

Simon McConnell, Dave Brown and Paul O'Toole secured another three points for Strand Utd who defeated VEC on a 3 - 1 scoreline in the Premier Division.15/09/2011.
