With favourable weather for a change, 26 matches were played on Saturday (23/01/2010).
Lower Crumlin reached the 5th round of the FAI Junior Cup at the expense of fellow UCFL Premier Division side Brayzil, running out 4-1 winners. In the LFA Junior Shield 2nd round, Adamstown beat Grant City 4-2 but Sportslink lost out to Drimnagh Celtic.
In the Challenge Cup, holders Orchard Celtic had a thrilling 4-3 victory over Amber Celtic in the last match of the 3rd round. Orchard will now play Leixlip Town in one of the 3 games remaining in the 4th round (last 16). It is hoped to make the draw for the quarter-finals at February’s management meeting on Thursday week.
In the leagues, 5 matches were played in Div 1, though unfortunately all 4 matches scheduled in Div 3 fell through.
Results and tables appeared as usual in Tuesday’s Irish Daily Star. Also included were reports and summaries of Saturday’s action. Results and tables have now also been posted to this website.
